HISTORY OF JSC “LESOHIMIK”

According to the resolution of the Government in 1928 the construction of a gum rosin and turpentine plant “Belorussky batrak” was started in Borisov. Construction was finally completed in October 6, 1929. The plant was located on the western outskirts of the city, in a pine forest area, at 2.5 km from the station Borisov and at 200 meters from the railway Moscow-Minsk.

The enterprise capacity in processing of crude gum in the initial period was about 1,000 tons per year, with output of 750 tons of gum rosin and 150 tons of turpentine oil.

In 1936 the plant was reconstructed: a brick building workshop was built instead of the old wooden one, two new gum-rosin-boiling stills were mounted, a new boiler plant was installed, and three steam boilers “Schuhov” with a total heating surface of 80 sq.m were mounted.

In 1940 the enterprise processed already 3,000 tons of crude gum per year, with output of 2,500 tons of gum rosin and 450 tons of turpentine oil.

During the Great Patriotic War the enterprise was completely destroyed.

After the liberation of Borisov a quick reconstruction of the manufacturing enterprise was began.

Already in 1946 the plant produced 2,250 tons of gum rosin and 465 tons of rosin turpentine oil.

In accordance with terms of the design assignment, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Forest Industry of the USSR, modernization and reconstruction of a rosin turpentine shop and shop for cleaning and rectification of dry distillation turpentine were commenced, construction of a new boiler plant, a transformer substation, two artesian wells, pumping and drainage stations, a mechanical workshop, railway connecting tracks of broad-gauge, laboratories, warehouses and a number of other facilities of ancillary purpose was started too.

In 1952 a new boiler plant was commissioned. There were mounted two boilers "Stein-Muller" with a total heating surface of 550 sq.m providing supply of 10 tons of steam per hour.

In 1955 the productivity of the reconstructed gum-processing workshop reached 13,000 tons per year, 9,945 tons of rosin, 2,171 tons of turpentine oil.
