According to the resolution of the Government in 1928 the construction of a gum rosin and turpentine plant “Belorussky batrak” was started in Borisov. Construction was finally completed in October 6, 1929. The plant was located on the western outskirts of the city, in a pine forest area, at 2.5 km from the station Borisov and at 200 meters from the railway Moscow-Minsk.

The enterprise capacity in processing of crude gum in the initial period was about 1,000 tons per year, with output of 750 tons of gum rosin and 150 tons of turpentine oil.

In 1936 the plant was reconstructed: a brick building workshop was built instead of the old wooden one, two new gum-rosin-boiling stills were mounted, a new boiler plant was installed, and three steam boilers “Schuhov” with a total heating surface of 80 sq.m were mounted.

In 1940 the enterprise processed already 3,000 tons of crude gum per year, with output of 2,500 tons of gum rosin and 450 tons of turpentine oil.

During the Great Patriotic War the enterprise was completely destroyed.

After the liberation of Borisov a quick reconstruction of the manufacturing enterprise was began.

Already in 1946 the plant produced 2,250 tons of gum rosin and 465 tons of rosin turpentine oil.

In accordance with terms of the design assignment, approved by the Order of the Ministry of Forest Industry of the USSR, modernization and reconstruction of a rosin turpentine shop and shop for cleaning and rectification of dry distillation turpentine were commenced, construction of a new boiler plant, a transformer substation, two artesian wells, pumping and drainage stations, a mechanical workshop, railway connecting tracks of broad-gauge, laboratories, warehouses and a number of other facilities of ancillary purpose was started too.

In 1952 a new boiler plant was commissioned. There were mounted two boilers "Stein-Muller" with a total heating surface of 550 sq.m providing supply of 10 tons of steam per hour.

In 1955 the productivity of the reconstructed gum-processing workshop reached 13,000 tons per year, 9,945 tons of rosin, 2,171 tons of turpentine oil.

In 1956 a turpentine-cleaning shop was commissioned. The shop was fitted with new equipment. It was the only one in its specificity in the Soviet Union.

The enterprise gradually increased its production capacity and expanded product range.

In 1957 the oxidizer with the capacity of 1,200 tons for production of oxidative flotation oil from purified dry distillation turpentine was installed.

In 1973 a new line producing polyterpenes that are used in the manufacture of glass fibre and glass-reinforced plastics with a capacity of 250 tons per year was commissioned.

In September of 1971 on the base of the wood chemical plant and the paper factory “Profintern” a paper-wood-chemical factory “Profintern” was established.

On the 20th of December 1972 it was renamed into Borisovsky Paper-Wood-Chemical Combinate.

On the 31st of May 1976 it was renamed into Borisovsky Paper-Wood-Chemical Plant.

From 1975 to 1980 a new paper workshop was building. In December 1981 the paper-making machine No. 815 with a capacity of 10.3 tons/year was put into operation; cone sumps of "Antoine"- type, capturing the paper pulp, new compressor and water intake stations were constructed.

For period 1977 to 1982 much work was done to reconstruct the gum rosin-and-turpentine workshop with the substitution of the old equipment.

In 1978 the production of new types of products - forest-balm and oxy-polymers of terpenes - was mastered in the turpentine-adhesive shop.

In 1979 the production of adhesives of tall rosin and wet-process clarified rosin began.

The production of consumer goods such as rosin in packages was started in 1982 and the production of packed turpentine oil was mastered at the factory in 1984.

In 1982 the melting compartment of boiler-turbine shop was remodeled and three new melters with a capacity of 6.3 m3 each were installed.

From 1986 to 1989 experimental work for producing of terpene-maleic resin and antiseptic composition AC-1 was conducted. Work on the implementation of the product was carried out jointly with the Institute of Physical Organic Chemistry of National Academy of Sciences of the Belorussian Soviet Socialist Republic and the Belorussian Institute of Technology.

At the end of 1990 the site on processing paper and cardboard was put into operation.

On the 1st of April 1992 the plant was re-organized: the paper factory was excluded from its composition. In order to maintain high quality output products and reputation of the stable and reliable partner, the imported equipment was bought, advanced technologies were borrowed and improved, own technologies were developed.

In 1993 the production of polymeric petroleum resin was mounted and put into operation. Based on it the consumer goods were launched: solvent agents "Solvent", drying oil for the production of paint-and-lacquer materials, resin and gloss oil varnish on its base.

In 1994 the production of reinforced adhesives TMVS-1 and TMVS-2 was launched.

Manufacture of boxes for packing chemical products (turpentine, hidrohumate), bobbins and boxes for packaging wallpapers was mastered in the workshop on processing paper and cardboard.

In 1994 the machine for receiving the inert gas – nitrogen was mounted.

In January 1994 the enterprise was privatized and re-organized into Joint-Stock Company “Lesohimik”.

In 1995 the technology for production of automotive coolant liquid (antifreeze) "Tosol", drying oil "Oksol" and natural drying oil was developed.

In June of 1996 a new gum rosin-and-turpentine workshop was put into operation.

Since November 20, 2006 STB ISO 9001 has been functioning at JSC "Lesohimik". The reconstruction of the boiler shop with the installation of boiler DE 6,5/14 was performed.

In 2007-2008 the production of non-freezing winter and summer windshield washer fluids, , enamel PF-115, paint VD-AK-111, antifreeze, turpentine solvent S-1, cable rosin (Electrotechnical), floor enamel PF-266 is certified by the State Standard.

The reconstruction of the compressor station with the installation of compressors GARDNER PANVER VS 25, VS 30 was carried out.

The reconstruction of the petroleum storage, the water recycling station with the installation of energy-saving pumps of the type Grundforce and Vilo, with the replacement of cooling elements for plastic ones was implemented.

The enterprise obtained a license for the wholesale and retail of petrochemicals.

In December 2008, Occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS) STB 18001-2005 was implemented at the enterprise.

In accordance with the program for the introduction of new products the production of disproportionated rosin, slow-acting fertilizers, primer GF-021 “LH” was launched and the volume of motor fuels production was increased in 2009.

In 2014, the main strategic objectives in implementing the policy of production development were:

- increasing production output of the most marketable traditional types of products, improving their quality and competitiveness, expanding consumer properties, reducing production costs through the introduction of energy-saving measures and replace imported raw materials with domestic equivalents;

 - increasing the range of output products, searching for new volumetric competitive technologies that allow to ensure the rhythmic work of the enterprise throughout the calendar year;

 - improvement of working conditions of the enterprise's employees by means of mechanization of labor-intensive processes and modernization of production.

In 2015 JSC “Lesohimik” began the implementation of the project for the production of varnishes, bituminous mastics, as well as put in operation a modular boiler.

The production of varnishes and bituminous mastics will expand the range of solvents and will allow to launch manufacturing of bituminous varnishes and primers.

The construction and commissioning the modular boiler will reduce energy consumption and reduce the costs of the enterprise.

In March 2016, an installation for pelletizing rosin and rosin esters was launched, which allowed to expand the output of the manufactured products.

In July 2016 JSC Lesohimik started the industrial production of rosin esters.
